Club Timer
Club Timer for Zoom

Time the meeting from inside Zoom

Club Timer runs in the Zoom meeting side panel. The signal shows on video, so online members and speakers see green, yellow and red without anyone holding up a card.

Signal on your video

Everyone sees the colour on the Timer's video

Turn your camera on and choose how the current speaker's signal appears on your video in Settings, under "Signal in my Zoom video".

  • Background turns your Zoom virtual background green, yellow or red, with the time on it. It stays midnight blue until the speaker reaches green.
  • Light adds a coloured light and the time in a corner of your video and keeps your own background.
  • Timer puts the timer itself in the corner: the ring, the clock and the speaker's name.
  • Corner chooses where the light or timer sits, so it stays clear of your face. Preview runs through the colours so you can check it before the meeting starts.

Your own preview in Zoom is mirrored, so the time reads backwards to you. Everyone else sees it the right way round.

Timer on the speaker's video

Each speaker sees their own time

Link a speaker to a person in the Zoom meeting, and while that speaker is timed, the timer appears on their own video.

  • Share the meeting from Club Timer and select Invite everyone to Club Timer. Members who open the invitation join the shared meeting automatically after they confirm.
  • Link speakers from the speaker menu with Show timer on a Zoom video, or link them all at once with Link speakers by matching names.
  • Speakers need Club Timer open. Zoom only lets an app change the video of the person running it, so each linked speaker opens Club Timer from the invitation.
  • Only the meeting's host or a co-host can connect a shared meeting to the Zoom meeting.

Add Club Timer to Zoom

  1. Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace and search for Club Timer.
  2. Select Add and allow the permissions Zoom lists. Zoom opens a page saying Club Timer is installed.
  3. Use a recent Zoom desktop app (Windows or macOS) and check that Zoom Apps is turned on for your account.

Use it in a meeting

  1. In the meeting toolbar, select Apps, then Club Timer. It opens in the side panel.
  2. Import the agenda or add speakers, the same way as in the app on your phone. See Features for the details.
  3. Open Settings and choose Background, Light or Timer under "Signal in my Zoom video". Zoom asks you to allow it the first time.
  4. To bring members in, select Share, then Invite everyone to Club Timer. To put the timer on a speaker's video, use the speaker menu and pick the person.
  5. Start, pause and move to the next speaker as usual. The signal on video follows the timer.

Live speech analysis isn't available inside Zoom, because Zoom keeps the microphone for the meeting. Use the timer on a phone or in a browser for that.

Remove the app

  1. Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace and select Manage, then Added Apps.
  2. Find Club Timer and select Remove.

Removing the app stops it changing your video. Club Timer keeps no Zoom account data after a meeting: anything stored for a shared meeting is deleted when the Timer stops sharing, or 24 hours after the last update.

Privacy

The pictures on your video are made on your device and never sent to us. To connect members to the shared meeting, our server stores a one-way hash of the Zoom meeting ID, the Zoom user ID and display name of the person who shared it, and the names of linked speakers. The privacy policy has the full details.
